BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent caused a stir among her colleagues when she was absent at the beginning of Wednesday’s programme.

On May 14, Jon Kay, who typically presents with Sally, had to go solo for the first quarter-hour as there was no sign of her.
Before passing over to Carol Kirkwood for the day’s initial weather forecast, Jon informed viewers that he could hear Sally’s “footsteps” approaching the studio and assured them she would explain everything upon arrival.
After Carol’s weather segment, Sally appeared on screen, apologising for her tardiness by saying, “Hi, I made it, everyone. Morning Carol! It’s so nice to be here. Sorry, I’m a little bit late!”
Jon, showing concern for his colleague, asked Sally, “A little bit of drama, are you alright?”
Sally responded with an explanation for her delay: “Oh, Jon, yeah, I’m okay, thank you. I got stuck in a car. You know where our studios are? It’s by the Quays. There’s lots of water and bridges. I got stuck because a bridge came up to let two boats through, and the bridge couldn’t close again,” reports the Express.
